About my teaching:

I am very passionate about what I do!  I love to see children enjoy learning!  This year we will be following the Paris ISD curriculum and incorporating Daily Cafe.  I am so excited about this type of teaching!  I am NOT a worksheet teacher and believe that books create readers not worksheets!   I have worked most of the summer creating a class library based on genres and will allow students to read books that they ENJOY instead of books they are told to read.  I believe that when students are allowed to read what they enjoy they will develop the skills they need to become better readers.  Our classroom will be like a reading  workshop where students guide their own learning!

Personal Information:

I am the mother of two wonderful children. Madisyn is in her sophomore year in college at the University of North Texas in Denton.   She will be majoring in business and marketing.  Parker is a senior at Paris High School and is on the swim team.  This is my 13th year to teach at Paris ISD and I love it!  I taught first grade for 2 years, 5 years in 3rd grade, and 4th grade for 6 years.  I was honored as  Aikin teacher of the year for 2014!  I love reading and introducing children to the joys of reading!  In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, scrapbooking, watching sports, and playing with my miniature dauchaund named Bella.
