Hello and welcome to my website!! My name is Amy Hooten and I’m excited to work with your children this school year!! I am a graduate of Paris High School and I am proud to teach in the district that gave me the foundation to be a life long learner. This is my 30th year at Justiss Elementary. I am honored to have been nominated as 2018 Elementary Teacher of the Year for Justiss, 2018 Elementary Teacher of the Year for Paris Independent School District, and 2018 Region 8 Elementary Teacher of the Year, and 2018 State Finalist for Texas Teacher of the Year. I have taught First Grade, Reading Recovery, Read 180, and this is my 10th year as a Second grade teacher. I have a passion for Reading and love helping children fall in love with good literature.
I am married to James Hooten, and we have three fur babies. One cat, Abbey, a Golden Retriever, Maycee, a Border Collie, Zoee, and our mini goldendoodle, Angel. They are spoiled rotten, love to walk on the trail ,and visit Petco. When I have free time I love to play with my fur babies, do free style stitiching projects, and hang out at the lakehouse with my family.
