I began my teaching career in Everman, Texas in a self-contained 3rd grade classroom and loved that age children. After a few years, I took a break from teaching having the opportunity to stay home with my children and then went back into the classroom fourteen and a half years ago. Before coming to Paris, I taught 6th grade Language Arts for six years and 6th grade Math for two years. God brought me full circle back to teaching 3rd grade Language Arts at Aikin Elementary. I taught two years at Aikin Elementary in first grade teaching math half day and Reading Recovery half day. In the 2015-2016 school year, I transferred to Justiss Elementary where I teach Reading Recovery and literacy groups. I love it here at Justiss! I consider teaching as my calling and am excited about this year!
I have a wonderful family which includes my husband, Dr. Tommy Turner, pastor of First Baptist Paris, my oldest son, Zach and his wife, Hilary, my middle son, Caleb, and our youngest, Katie. Zach is working as a supervisor for UPS. Caleb is working in the Fayetteville area and Katie is a third grade bilingual ELAR teacher at Justiss. We have three special additional family members, Gurdy and Rudy, our Boston Terriers and Sir Charles, our rescued cat. I enjoy reading, being with my family, being involved with my church, taking mission trips all around the world, and routing on the SOONERS!
