I began my teaching career in Everman, Texas in a self-contained 3rd grade classroom and loved that age children. After a few years, I took a break from teaching having the opportunity to stay home with my children and then went back into the classroom fourteen and a half years ago. Before coming to Paris, I taught 6th grade Language Arts for six years and 6th grade Math for two years. God brought me full circle back to teaching 3rd grade Language Arts at Aikin Elementary. I taught two years at Aikin Elementary in first grade teaching math half day and Reading Recovery half day. In the 2015-2016 school year, I transferred to Justiss Elementary where I taught Reading Recovery and literacy groups. Currently, I am teach literacy and intervention groups. I love it here at Justiss! I consider teaching as my calling and am excited about this year!
I have a wonderful family which includes my husband, Dr. Tommy Turner, pastor of First Baptist Paris, my oldest son, Zach and his wife, Hilary and Hayden our granddaughter, my middle son, Caleb and his wife Kailee, and our youngest, Katie and her husband Jason. Zach is working in Oklahoma and Texas for Pepsi. Caleb is working in the Roanoke area for Calloway, and Katie is a first grade bilingual teacher for Athens ISD. We have a special family member, Sir Charles, our rescue cat. I enjoy reading, being with my family, being involved with my church, taking mission trips all around the world, and routing on the SOONERS!
